What you’ll find

Round Lake is a tranquil lakeside park with a walking path around the water and a small children’s play area.

The walk around the lake only takes around 15 minutes, so it’s a really manageable one with younger children. The path is tarmac and suitable for prams, wheelchairs, bikes and scooters, making this a great option if you have different ages with you.

The play park is small but ideal for younger kids. It’s fenced in with a full soft surface, so they can have a play before or after your walk.

There’s also an on-site caravan and camping park if you fancy staying a little longer.

For the grown ups

This is definitely one for when you want an easy, peaceful day out rather than a big attraction.

The walk is short enough that you’re not going to hear “are we nearly there yet?” a hundred times, and the kids can finish off with a play while you enjoy the lakeside setting.

Fivemiletown is only a short walk away too, so you can easily combine it with something to eat or a coffee.

Overall verdict

Round Lake is a lovely little FREE family day out in County Tyrone.

It’s not somewhere you need to set aside an entire day for, but that’s exactly why we like places like this. A walk around the lake, a play in the park and some fresh air can sometimes be all you need.

It’s particularly good for families with younger children, and the accessible pathway makes it an easy option for prams and wheelchairs too.

Definitely one to save if you’re around Fivemiletown or travelling west and need somewhere to stop and stretch little legs!
