What You’ll Find

Nestled in the heart of County Tyrone, Pomeroy Forest Park is a brilliant free family adventure filled with magical sculptures, woodland trails and natural play areas.

The Renardine Nursery Trail is approximately 1km long and is ideal for younger children. The longer Fairytale Trail is around 2.2km and takes you deeper into the forest, where you’ll discover characters and scenes inspired by well-known fairytales.

There are 18 nature-based sculptures hidden throughout the forest, including characters from stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. The sculptures are spread along the route, giving children something new to search for as they walk.

You’ll also find interactive art pieces, natural play areas and plenty of opportunities for climbing, balancing and imaginative play. The play park makes a brilliant halfway stop before continuing through the forest.

Families who want a longer adventure can follow the 2.4km Grace Drennan Eco Trail, with information boards about the woodland’s plants, wildlife and ecology.

For the Grown Ups

The visitor building has toilets, baby-changing facilities, accessible toilets, a Changing Places facility and a coffee dock serving drinks and snacks. Woodies Café also operates seasonally.

There are picnic tables within the courtyard, free parking and clear signs throughout the forest. The family trails are manageable without feeling too short, and the sculptures help keep children interested along the way.
