What You’ll Find

If your little explorers love wide-open spaces, secret trails and the promise of a proper adventure, Kilbroney Forest Park is a brilliant family day out.

The adventure play park is one of the highlights, with plenty of climbing equipment, slides and different areas for children to explore. There’s equipment for younger children, along with larger climbing structures for older and more confident adventurers.

The magical Narnia Trail takes you through the forest in search of characters and sculptures inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia. Keep an eye out for the wardrobe door, the lamppost, Mr Tumnus and the famous stone table along the way.

There are several woodland trails around the park, ranging from gentle family walks to more challenging routes. Older children and confident walkers can make their way towards the Cloughmore Stone, where you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views across Carlingford Lough and the surrounding mountains.

Kilbroney is also home to mountain-bike trails, large green spaces and plenty of picnic areas, making it somewhere you could easily spend most of the day.

For the Grown Ups

There are picnic tables and benches around the park, along with a café where you can stop for coffee, lunch or a treat.

The toilets, baby-changing facilities and on-site parking make it a practical option for a longer family day out. The scenery is beautiful too, especially when you head further into the forest or towards the viewpoints overlooking Carlingford Lough.
